For me, cars don't come any finer than the Ferrari 250 GTO
The news then that #4153, a never crashed 1963 car and one of 39 ever built (or 36 depending on who you believe) has just changed hands for £52 million has left me absolutely staggered ! An utterly bonkers amount of money !! Not a bad return on the £13,500 or so it cost new.

I've had a 'bee in my bonnet' about this car since I saw one in the paddock at Oulton Park in 1983...a truly unforgettable moment. I was 17 and getting heavily into cars and motorsport whilst studying engineering at college. Those 10 minutes walking round that car, photographing and studying every detail are etched into my memory. I can smell the hot metal and Castrol R even now ! So as Frank would say 'I got you under my skin' and as the years have passed I've had countless posters, prints and books about my dream car. Not joined yet? Like you Patriot I adore the 250GTO, utterly sublime.
Nick Mason, Pink Floyd drummer turned down an offer of £35 million for his a couple of years ago. I think if I had his sort of money I would turn it down too, that’s a car to keep until you curl your old toes up.

Yes, a mind-bending amount of money - but if someone will pay it that's what it's worth!
I really like them, but although it might be heresy I honestly prefer the looks of the 275 GTB/4. And they must be a bit cheaper (still not cheap enough for my budget though).

Look at these like fine art, but art that's a lot more fun and useful....and given it's the 'best' art in the world then £52m will seem cheap in 10 years time.

No doubt worth every penny. But I beg to disagree, £52,000,000 will never seem cheap to me.Angelus666 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 10:20 pm Look at these like fine art, but art that's a lot more fun and useful....and given it's the 'best' art in the world then £52m will seem cheap in 10 years time.
