A good mate of mine has a lovely 1942 Willeys jeep which he keeps in his garage at the bottom of his garden. Now, the access to his garage is across council owned land that used to have old garages on it, these were knocked down years ago.
My mate has been using the garage/access for 25 years, but has been told he can't use it from the end of May as they want to build new homes on the land. He has no issues about the new homes, but it's the way they have planned the new gardens. A simple swipe of a pen to move a garden from one side of a new house to the other and he could keep the access to his garage. They have done a slight plan change for another neighbour of his to keep access to his garage
He has been in touch with the council and planning office, but no one will listen, does anyone know what he could try next
I will try and add a copy of the plan later.
Cheers

Here we go, my mates garage is at the bottom left and you can see where I have marked the new service rd. The gardens where the proposed service rd is, are not used for vehicular access, only my mate has access in that area. It just needs the service rd flipping to allow him access which he has had for 25 years.
He's a lovely guy and has resigned himself to loosing his access. I think it should be easy to change the proposed plans and was hoping someone on here may know of a solution.

Have the plans for the development already been given approval by the local planning authority? If so, then I fear it is too late to expect any changes to the plans.

If the development is still awaiting planning approval then he needs to write an objection letter pronto, and preferably get a number of other local residents to write in to support his position.

It says the Determination Deadline is Wed 16 May 2018. He has been told he has to move his jeep by the end of May. A neighbour of his has had the plan adjusted to allow access to his garage but they don't want to do anything for my mate.

Ok thanks for the PM. There have been 21 objections including Councillor Asif so far. Infact Councillor Asif has asked for the application to go to the planning committee if it is recommended for approval. What this means is the planning officer wants the application "Approved" but the planning committee on a vote can "refuse" the application.

Environmental health have also objected to the application on the grounds of air quality being damaged and if the application was to be approved "11 electric vehicle charging points be installed".

I assume your mate lives at No. 202?

So what he needs to do THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!! is.......................................

1. Write a letter of objection to the council explainig his reasons why i.e loss of access to a garage he has been using for over 25 years.

2. Contact Councillor Asif and ask him to visit site so he/she can see your mates issues. Don't be afraid to contact them that is what your "local" councillor is there for!

I can aslo see that a previous application for 10 houses was approved ref. 09/06369/***** but this still allowed access to No. 202.

Therefore the bottom line is, if this access is precious then act now. There are already enough objectors to make this application contraversial so another objection will only bolster/ help swing the decision!

Hope that helps! :-)

Having another quick gander another valid objection would be "loss of privacy due to potential overlooking from Bedrooms 1 & 3". Add this to the objection letter also.

He is writing another letter today and yes it is 202. We have messaged cllr Asif and Kieth will try and get him to visit the site. I have sent Emails to many MP's and even the MP who chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles group, to see if he will help.
Thank you so much for your input.

Hi Bobby

Is the committee tonight or was it held this afternoon? If so what was the outcome?
