Many congrats Rob, I'm not envious in the least, but I'm envious I'm 53 as well and will have done 40 years at the same place in 4 years time and need to decide whether to carry on, probably not worth it pension wise. I could do flexible retirement in 2 years ie a 3 day week but secretly I would love to finish as soon as I can. My dad passed away at 61 and never enjoyed retirement and it's something that always strikes a note with me that life is too short to carry on working.
All the best in what you decide to do.
Tim.

Congrats Smartbear. Enjoy your retirement
Just over 3 months to go for me. From the 1st May I'll be on half time until I retire. It's the company's way of getting you used to the idea of not working. I've worked shifts all my working life & for the last 10 years started work @ 6am everyday. Must say I don't think I'll miss that!
All the best.

Good luck with it all and enjoy..can certainly see why you are doing it now ..Ill probably keep going until i drop deadSmartbear wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 10:19 amI turned 53 last month, I've had a good job as a technical officer for London underground but I won't miss the shift work or the weekend working. I've got some good friends I'm leaving behind but that's the only lament.mr.tourette wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 9:06 am Do you mind me asking how old you are bear? Didnt think you were anywhere near retirement age...I see more and more people retiring younger and I'm beginning to wonder about the whole scenario...i cannot even imagine retiring as I get seriously bored just having a few weeks off
I know Im probably one of those sad bastards that loves their job and enjoys going to work, I like routine and being around folk and cant imagine life without it what do you plan to do with all your time?
My mum only had 2 years retired before she suffered a major stroke & I think that's had some bearing on my decision.
I've got several hobbies (apart from the zed) so certainly won't be bored
Rob
