Vauxhall key fob

Post by obewan » Wed Dec 27, 2017 10:56 am

Some advice from you knowledgeable people appreciated

My mum's key fob remote is acting up - a bit tempremental. I've changed the battery without success
It needs a hard press to open/lock the car, even then it doesn't always work

I've just phoned Vauxhall and they quoted me £180

Does anyone know a potential fix I could try or is there a cheaper supplier out there?

Thanks

Cheers Firebobby

Anyway, quick update, I may be sorted now :)
By chance I was getting a spare key for my bike today from a mobile key guy at a local market
He had a sign up saying he could replace/re-code/repair transponder fobs
After a quick discussion he was pretty sure it just needs new micro switches at £4 each
Just need to leave it with him for half an hour
Worst case scenario was also a new case and battery - £16 tops!

How the hell can Vauxhall justify £180?
Not to mention copies of every document under the sun and signatures in triplicate

Hope you get it sorted, it appears that keys are a money making excuse for a lot of manufactures.
I had 2 keys for my Nissan, but only one worked, Nissan wanted £80 to re code it as "it takes a couple of hours to do sir" I looked on line and found a site that showed me how to in less than 2 minutes...Bankers :poke:
