Just remember that ratchet parts are not covered by the Halfords lifetime warranty so use them as intended for rapid tightening and loosening of fixings, not heavy breaking of stuck things..

I did read that moving parts are not covered so in essence the lifetime warranty is pretty much useless as what else is there to break?, if something did break I think they'd say it was due to abuse, I'm hoping the reasonable quality & my casual use will be enough for these tools to last a lifetime & be passed on.cj10jeeper wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 1:24 pmJust remember that ratchet parts are not covered by the Halfords lifetime warranty so use them as intended for rapid tightening and loosening of fixings, not heavy breaking of stuck things..

I did swap out the 10mm ratchet spanner though as it was slightly binding up on turning but that was faulty from new rather than actually breaking, Halfords were fine about it.

Re the cabinets, tbh a friend of mine bought them, or rather his wife did for Xmas. Neither he, nor myself is impressed with the build quality. I know you get what you pay for, but they are cheaply made.
I've bad a couple of chests over the years, including several snap on, and I think they are also over priced for what they are. I currently have one of these, had for about 3 years now, and afaic it's as good as, if not better than the snap on. Comes with a lifetime warranty, weighs around 300kg EMPTY and costs around a tenth of the price of snap on. I paid £480 Inc vat.

I meant the stainless steel units, which are excellent, not the bargain basement pressed steel range. Great value at their price pointDucklakeview wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 4:45 pmRe the cabinets, tbh a friend of mine bought them, or rather his wife did for Xmas. I know what you are saying guys but we're not comparing apples with apples, I certainly wouldn't pay £500 for this Halfords set & would be looking for something more substantial for that price point , but for what I want it (& what I paid for it) for which is a primarily a tool organiser & occasional DIY use it'll be fine, I did look at it instore before I dithered & missed the opportunity to buy it locally

I bought the same set with a top box for £250 a couple of years ago. Given excellent service and looks set to continue for many years to come.
now I'm about to have more time I've suddenly got less toys to play with!

The industrial cab set is excellent, waaay better than the pro , the difference is huge but the price ain't , I have top chest and roll cab sitting next to my Facom box at work . I have the drawers loaded well over their limit , I have spanners in multipuls up to 50mm , inch drive sockets and some real heavy stuff , well above sizes a car mechanic would use , three years and its a smooth as ever . Find someone with a trade card and go with him the discounts can be large on some things .

Just got the same deal 349 for the two industrial cabs , i wanted blue which are supposedly not in the offer but one store got them for me. The other good deal was the combination spanners for 50 quid 6mm to 32mm Works out two quid a spanner which makes the big sizes cheap as chips, chrome vanadium and lifetime warranty. Great fun organising your tools and knowing you have the tool you need. AND where to find it instantly, makes car hobbying a pleasure. Enjoy

Result!!
So I'd heard nothing from the Halfords store since I'd verbally placed an order with over the phone for the Professional chest & drawer bundle for £199, as it happens work took me past the store today & so I called in to see if there actually was an order in place for it & also I hoped that it might have come in & was ready for collection.
The sales assistant seemed to know something about it & asked for the store manager to come out to speak with me, it turns out that the shipping ticket to the store had my order on it with a quantity = zero with no more stock in the warehouse , however rather than let me down the manager had taken it upon himself to order me in the Industrial bundle (currently priced at £349) & said that he'd honour the original £199 price quoted for the Professional set. .
I think this is excellent customer service from Halfords, he could have just said that there were no more to order in from the warehouse & left it at that, remember, I'd not paid any monies over prior to this, no order reference, nothing to prove that I'd even called to verbally agree to purchase the original set.
The Industrial chest & drawers (in black) comes in either Monday or Wednesday next week, apparently it's bloody heavy though .
