Panic buying fuel again

Bit presumptuous Pondrew. :poke: I travelled to London's docklands today in my 5 series and it made me smile on my return home when I plugged it into a socket to 'fill it up' again. All the service stations had queues on the way back. I must admit I felt smug, and that was wrong. :D

Ok admittedly, but you get my point. :)

Yes, the numpties are out everywhere it seems - but it only happened thanks to the media. :headbang:

I drove past my local Tesco this morning and people were queueing to get to the filling station - luckily my Z still had over half a tank, even if it doesn't go that far!

Had to go to the store this afternoon and I used a different entrance and exit to avoid the queues that stretched nearly half way around one end of the car park.

The only positive is they can't buy gallons of it to stash away like they did with pasta, rice, tinned food, hand gel, bog rolls, etc. last year.
Coupes because stunning!

Both petrol stations in the town that stay open late were closed when I went there at 21:30. That's Tesco and BP. Looks like no Zedding about this weekend. :(

Panic buying fuel again

To be fair it's not really the fault of the puiblic. This one's all the media and the government. The news stories about petrol stations running dry was pure drama, it's not uncommon for a station to run dry. The advice from the government to keep at least 1/4 tank was just a complete sham.

I think everyone at the pump has some kind of excuse along the lines of needing to top up for a long journey they might need to make or being a ""key worker"" who needs fuel to continue being a martyr.

I don't think there's any real shortage. I drove past about 5 stations on the way to the gym and all looked to still be open without any serious queues. The pensioners and gammons have finished topping up their motobiity Qashqais so things will be back to normal next week.

Not all pensioners have Qashqais!

As you say, things will settle down next week - we aren’t going to use more fuel than normal and fuel tanks will have all been filled this week.

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

The A11 is down to one lane in several places, with half mile queues out onto the carriageway!
I think the police should be able to close those petrol stations as it's a huge accident waiting t happen!

More to the point, ambulances in Norwich cannot get to the front of the queue to refill as the idiots refuse to let them through!
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!
