Wheel Weights

Post by Guiseley » Wed Apr 18, 2012 4:46 pm

Anyone know how much the various 18" alloy wheels weigh? Can find anything on realoem so hoping some of you bright lot have a cunning link.

Real question I want answering is Mv2 v 107 v M.

Cheers.

No-one? Have found some interesting wheel websites that have lots of weights

http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/

MV2 are 11.23 Fr and 11.93kg rear
224 M's are 11.20 fr and 11.70kg rear
Doesn't quote Elipsoids weight :( - now found another site that says 11.8 Fr and 12.6 Rear - are they really that much heavier?

You could kind of guess by the size of the gaps between the spokes, on the simple idea that more metal = more weight.

I think due to the fact that all the oem wheels are made using the same process and material that would be a safe guess.

The real weight savings will start to come with forged or magnesuim alloy wheels.

And how do you stop the new stick on weights rusting away?
