18" CSL Wheels

[Z4 Coupe]

After seeing a fair few BMW's with the original 19" CSL wheels today I think I'd like a set if possible the only difference is I would like 18's.

I had a look on eBay and the replicas seemed pretty reasonable at around £400 with postage so raises a few questions.

1. What’s the quality of replica wheels like?
2. Would I look like a plank for having 18” CSL’s on a Z4 Coupe?
3. Would the handling be affected by the different weight of the new wheels?
4. Can these have run flats and non-run flats fitted?
5. Will the tyres off my 108’s swap to the new wheels?
6. Do I need to be worried when it comes to selling the car?

What do you guys think in general?

1) I guess it's like anything really, i got some off of BM Autosport, couldn't fault the service, and the chap knows his stuff, quoting offsets like rain man. Well, not quite as impressive as rain man...
2) haha...ummm... I did explain to my missus that 18" CSL reps were a bit of a no no, altho, they are the sensible option.
3) Jenson Button might notice, but in all honesty probably not.
4) Don't see why not - run flats would crash a bit tho
5) If you get the right width wheels, i think 8 and 8.5 are what you need
6) Depends if you lose or sell your 108's in the meantime, why not keep them as winter wheels and if you're bothered come sale time, have a refurb done on them? and sell your CSL reps separately - obviously if you went for 19's they'd sell quicker...

The only things to watch out for are:
offset, your current wheels are probably (don't hold me to this!) et47 front and et50 rear, the ones you list are et38 front and et40 rear, but are half inch wider, so your fronts will be 9mm further out in the arch and the rears will be 10mm ish further out in the arch. Shouldn't be a problem.
suspension, if your car's drastically lowered you'll have a potential issue.

1. I think if I do go for the CSL's BM Autosport is the place to go as they get really good reviews not just on here.
2. I know 99.9% of people wouldn't know but it's when you meet that person who does
3. I'm no Jenson Button but I wanted to check it wouldn't ruin the handling.
4. Wanted to check as wheels and tyres in one go would be too much!
5. The ones in the ebay link aren't 8 and 8.5 but the BM Autosport ones are.
6. I don't have the space or the spare cash to keep my 108's unfortunately.

I think if I was to change I would want exactly the same so I'd look out for offset, thanks.

I've got no idea what to do as my 108's need a refurb but I'm not 100% keen on them so wanted to see what my options are.

Run flat tyres need a wheel with a run flat ridge to stop the tyre coming off when running on the sidewall. A wheel not designed for runflats doesn't have this ridge, so will not be suitable for runflat tyres.

Sounds like that has ruled the CSL replicas out then.

I think it might just be a 108 refurb. Fingers crossed Leon gets some more in quickly!

Why not wait until you need new tyres and change from runflats to non runflats at the same time, makes a big difference to the ride.

I know BMautosport seem to have a good reputation, however I found them to be rather unprofessional and ended up not getting anything from them.
