Winter wheels, when are you going to take them off?

Post by sars » Thu Feb 23, 2012 6:09 pm

It's starting to feel like Spring and I'm itching to put my new BBS wheels on.......so when are you going to swap to your summer tyres.

Hopefully I wont be if I sell my car within the next few weeks, unless of course it does sell and the new owner wants the summer wheels instead of the winters :)

Have to admit after the temp gauge showing 18.5 degrees on my drive back from Lincoln today that it definately feels like spring is in the air...

Having said that we'll probably get some snow next week

Recon the weather is fine to swap back now to be honest... problem is I found some of my summers are illegal when I took them off, so I need to save up for some new summer rubber

+1 couple of days light snow. Barely dipped below 0'c and pretty good winter all round :)

We discussed it on Saturday, then it snowed so we didn't. Then its been warm all week. So guess this weekend unless forecast really bad

I was wondering about taking them off my daughters car pretty soon, they gave peace of mind for the two or three spells of light snow and some nasty overnight ice we had on a few occasions, but temperatures seem to be on the up now. The only problem is we often seem to get some snow late March, but I guess it wouldn't hang about then.

I asked this last night on the winter tyres thread - spooky, is it normal for our 'cycles' to harmonise ?

General consensus seems to be that they are coming off - it was 18.5 degrees on my way home too, roof down  poked the throttle round the corner and nearly spun it at about 15mph because the tyres are so lacking in grip. That would have been a bit embarrassing

I am itching I get my 108s back on - don't need new tyres, but need to get a couple of nails removed from the centre of the tread and the holes plugged. And as I borrowed the equipment last time I need to spend about £90 of Man Money on a jack, torque wrench etc. SWMBO will be delighted

...Just noticed that this is the e89 thread :slaphead:

I saw this date and thought, that seems familiar... that's the day Kryton gets his new Porker. Can't be having your gorgeous rims overshadowed by another marque sars (no matter how nice it is)

I'd wait a while I've certainly driven through a lot of white stuff in early March ... this may be a false spring
