I wondered if many, indeed any,of you guys stayed with 225+255 tyres?
The wheels I have acquired have these sizes on,M3 sizes in fact.
I think I will change the tyres as I'm not keen on them but am in that usual quandary of what to get.
I know most go for 235/35 and 265/30 but really these are not tall enough, and give I suspect an even harder ride.
If I go 265/35 it's a better fit but there are less brands to choose from,so then you go 245 and 275 but as much as I like the look from the back of a nice wide tyre,I suspect these are not really ideal.
And so back to 225/40 19 and 255/35 19 which are the best overall fit.
The wheels look fine with these at the moment,a combination of right offset etc giving the broad shouldered look,so maybe I should just stick?
Any thoughts?

I've tried a few combinations of sizes on 19's and I think you're making a mistake sticking with 225/40's on the front. The car doesn't feel stable enough with them on, far too twitchy IMO. If you want to keep the 255/35's on the rear then I would run with either 235/35 or 245/35 on the front, you'll be impressed with the improvement I think. That said 265/30 and 235/35 are still the best combination of everything I've tried, it feels like the car was developed on them.

Re: So I have some 19" wheels...
Interesting re the 225 fronts.
I went for a little run yesterday round some less than perfect country roads and wasn't very happy .
The car felt very stiff and was never settling on the road.
To be fair we all know the M can be a bit lacking when the roads buck a bit but I wasn't sure how much the wheels were playing a part.
I've weighed the new rims/tyres and they are virtually identical to original( fronts slightly lighter) so no issues there.
I was getting some tram lining too.
All of the above is why I'm wary of going to low and wide in the profile, even though I accept many of you guys are already doing it.

Re: So I have some 19" wheels...
My CSLs are on 235/35/19 and 265/35/19 they're easily as planted as the 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 of my ///M wheels.
265/30/19 felt harsh to me, but I have to drive a few miles on narrow, rutted farm lanes to get to the A roads when I take the zed.

I know price isn't everything, but if you went for Michelin pilot super sports the 265/35 are £340 a tyre, 265/30 are £290 a tyre, quite a difference

I've had more of a run round now.
Feeling a little happier with the tyres that are on,I've adjusted the pressures a bit.
Might withhold a decision till spring since I won't do many miles till then anyway
