Which 19" CSL reps would be the best fit please
Hi Guys,
I've spent hours if not days scouring this forum (and others) trying to find the best solution and I'm still undecided on exactly what wheel/tyre size/offset is going to be best suited for my car.
Both CMwheels and Rimstyle have quoted me a very good price for wheel/tyre combo but the rim width and offsets are different. I have a feeling both would be ok but keen to know from 1st hand experience please which one's you'd recommend.
Option 1 - Riva DTM 19"
Intended Axle Size Offset Tyre
Front Axle 19 x 8.0" ET34 235/35/19
Rear Axle 19 x 9.0" ET37 255/30/19
or
Option 2 - Atomic CSL 19"
Intended Axle Size Offset Tyre
Front Axle 19 x 8.5" ET38 225/35/19
Rear Axle 19 x 9.5" ET45 265/30/19
To be fitted on my new money pit *picture for attention* as some might say.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Indeed he is. OP, it would be worth mentioning if your coupe (lovely it is too) is lowered or if you plan on lowering it. Often with wider wheels like the Atomics it can make a difference to the advice knowledgeable members like Mr Wilks can offer.

Thanks for the responses IRD & JamieZ4C - hopefully Mr Wilks can spare me a moment to advise, if not I'll bombard him with him PM's
regards lowering, it had crossed my mind - however I've noticed the front lip lightly graze a few speed humps in my local area so I'm a little loathed to go lower still. Or maybe I should just go the long way around....

id go with the Rivas... the width and offset of the rear of the Atomics seems like a poor fit... would need a 15mm spacer to bring that into spec i'd say.
have you stuck them on to willtheyfit.com? get an exact reading on how mush further in or out they'll sit.

I bet Mr Wilks will suggest 245 35 19’s for the rear
The Atomics look very much like the genuine article

CSL reps a tried and tested route for many many Z4 owners so hard to fault the decision , both sets work but as Jamie rightly points out the effect of lowering needs to be considered as do tyre sizes . unless its a typo the suggested front sizes would be better reversed so the 225 35 19 fitted to the Rivas & 235 35 to the Atomics
Option 1 - Riva DTM 19"
Intended Axle Size Offset Tyre
Front Axle 19 x 8.0" ET34 235/35/19
Rear Axle 19 x 9.0" ET37 255/30/19
or
Option 2 - Atomic CSL 19"
Intended Axle Size Offset Tyre
Front Axle 19 x 8.5" ET38 225/35/19
Rear Axle 19 x 9.5" ET45 265/30/19
None of the above wheels would need any spacers but personally i would go with the Rivas on 225 35 19 fronts / 245 35 or 255 35 rears
On the Atomic i would go 255 35 19 but i know many others have fitted 265 30 & are happy with them

Thanks for your contribution MrWilks, much appreciated.
I checked the sizes and specs and there is no typo, you’re right though - I’d expect to see the 225 on the 8” and the 235 on the 8.5”. I can of course request exactly which tyres so shouldn’t be an issue.
I assume then the ET values are of no concern and I won’t experience any arch rub, both sets come out with similar values on the willtheyfit calculator.
I think I may well just pull the trigger on the Rivas with 225/35 front and 255/35 or 30 rear.
Oh by the way, my rubber of choice is Uniroyal Rain Sport5. Had RS3’s on 18” rims on my previous MINI and was very impressed for the money.
Thanks again.

I wouldn't fit 255 30 on either of the sets 245 35 is ideal for a 9j rim or 255 35 , 255 30 just not enough rubber for comfort or wheel protection imoRafes Dad wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 9:15 pm Thanks for your contribution MrWilks, much appreciated.

have you stuck them on to willtheyfit.com? get an exact reading on how mush further in or out they'll sit.

I have and I'm still none the wiser if I'm honest I hear what Mr Wilks is saying about the tyre aspect ratio for comfort but it throws the speedo well out as well increasing the ride height. My car is not a daily - it's for fun and I'd like it to look good as well. The Rivas are tipping the balance ever so slightly...

As for looks , have you actually seen a 9j 19inch rim up close with 255 30 fitted to it ?
With a 245 35 or 255 35 fitted you will not even notice the increase in ride height but you will notice the reduction in arch gap
You go with what you feel happiest with & post up some pics when you're done

If you want to use ‘Will they fit’ then I’d suggest starting with the style 224 rear wheel spec for comparison in terms of ‘Poke’ on the rear.
It’s 18x 9J ET 30 and it’s virtually perfect on an E85/E86 in terms of where it sits in the arch. If you compare any wheel to this and it ‘Pokes’ more than the 224 does at the back then you’re almost definitely going to have issues.
