Tyre health

Post by greg81 » Thu Sep 10, 2020 11:08 am

A health check on my car that I've only had 3 months
(done about 800 miles) highlighted some issues with cracking on the tyres. They're saying it's perfectly safe and should be checked in 6 months.

Slightly disappointing in the time that I've had it for this to come up. Anyway, I'm going up to see it today but in the meantime remembered I'd take some photos of the wheels the day I took delivery of the car. I'm wondering if this is the cracking they're referring to around the edge of the tyre or if this looks ok?

When I see the car I can compare but they shouldn't have sold me the car with tyres that have advisories on a health check so will push for them to replace.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for this. In your opinion, is there obvious cracking in the picture or does it look reasonable to you?

Plainly its hard to ignore though doesn't appear to be as bad as some have experienced .
Highly unlikely the tyre would fail on you but it would unnerve me to the point i would want them replaced if only to put the mind at rest :(
Hopefully your dealer will be well aware of similar issues that have plagued the official Porsche recognised Pirelli tyres ref N0 / N1

Apologies for the delayed response. Porsche are fitting 4 new tyres this week at their expense. A good result all round
