Can I mix Asymmetric 3 and 5?
I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 (non runflat) on all of my wheels, but I have a slow puncture in the rear left which also has a bulge and can't be repaired (its on the sidewall).
I can't find any Asymmetric 3 in the size (255/35/18 Y), only the Asymmetric 5 which replaced the 3.
So my question is, is it safe to have the 3 on one side and 5 on the other, or should I replace both rears for the 5's?
Tread on the remaining side is around 5mm.
Black circles have the 5 for £135.10 fitted.

The days of cross ply and radials are long gone and worse has been done but as above I wouldn’t either, scrimping on tyres is a fools game imho.

If the tyres are the same size, construction, speed and load ratings then there is no problem legally. But the 5's big selling point was 7% better wet weather braking performance and improved cornering grip, so although ABS and DSC should prevent any nastiness developing it doesn't sound ideal. Personally I'd change as a pair and see if anybody wants to buy a good 5mm Eagle 3.

I thought you might say that, but was hoping not
I was thinking that as they are the same "range" then it might be ok, not the same as different brands or RFT and nRFT etc etc...
Bollox then, I'll order two of the feckers!

Well thats £270 that I could've done without spending!
I'm sure its related to the massive pot hole I hit last year which f*cked the front tyre and I thought I had got away with it but thinking about it this has needed topping up every couple of months since then, so I've been lucky really, and that it didn't blow out.
Saying that, theres more potholes here than the surface of the moon (some of them are as big as those on the moon) so it could've been any of them I guess.

Could have saved a few ££ as 255 35 18 Goodyear 5s can be had for £103 apiece https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/ ... 94y-935821 & any decent tyre place shouldn't be charging more than £15 a tyre with balance MAX , the two i regularly use its £10 .
Right decision to switch the pair though very unlikely you would have ever felt the difference on the road , the GY 3 should fetch reasonable money to offset the spend

Thats not bad, I thought it would be more like £20.
When I've got it off the car I'll get some decent pics and put it in the for sale section.
