Tyre size advice for an E86 Si

Post by Mike- » Wed Jul 08, 2020 4:27 pm

Hi

Looking at some wheels that are 19” 8.5 ET35 and 9.5 ET40. I don’t particularly like tyres that are rubber band thin but I also don’t want any rubbing if I can help it (phrasing).

Thinking 265/35 and 235/35 or 30. Anyone ran a similar set up and has pictures? Had 265/40s on the back of my Corvette which I liked and suited it but the Z4 being a smaller car I’m thinking a 35 might be best.

Ta.

If you fit brand new 235 35 19 et 35 on the front of a si coupe on stock sport springs they will catch slightly when spirited driving into bends / bumpy surfaces / suspension compression & If lowered they will rub on lock at any speed .
225 35 will cure it on stock springs .
A 30 profile on the front id rather not think about

Thanks. When you say catch do you mean on the front of the tyre or somewhere else? Not averse to spacing them out a bit if it’ll help
