Ovation Tyres?

Post by Dr. Zed » Sat Jun 20, 2020 3:54 pm

Hi all,

So did some searching on the forum and got no hits for the above tyres (although the words 'standing ovation' comes up a surprising amount). Anyways, I'm currently weighing up wheel and tyre options for my E85. I found an ebay seller that's listing some nice looking wheels with tyres for just shy of 900 quid. The wheels look a bit like M6 wheels but I messaged them to ask what tyres they ship with and they said all their wheel and tyre packages come standard with Ovation tyres.

Has anyone heard of these? I'm seriously thinking that buying wheels and decent tyres separately would be better since I'd spending maybe 100 quid more for alloys and say Michilin's or Goodyears.

Any input is mucho appreciated!

I’d avoid buying tyres I’ve never heard of like the plague :o

Try www.bmautosport.co.uk or www.cmwheels.co.uk both reputable wheels sellers.

Ovation Tyres?

Doubt I'd buy 'Ovation' tyres tbh.

A few miles of loud clapping from all four corners would drive me mad! :D

And every time you put it back in the garage you'd have to take it out again for another few minutes.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

I recently bought a Z4 with Ovation tyres on - Harsh(er) ride. Swapped them for Goodyear Asymmetrics and sold the Ovations on FB Marketplace. Good business all round! I’d avoid.

i've heard of Ovation tyres. and thats all ive got to say about them!

i'm sure they'll be fine if you only plan on going to the shops or up and down a motorway. but if you are planning on driving any corners with any vigour, i'd at least put some midrange tyres on (kumho, avons, vredesteins, falkens, etc)

Thanks for the input all!
I had a feeling I knew the answer before the replies came. Never heard of them which is never a good start..

Think spending the extra money on buying the alloys and tyres separately will be the way to go then :)

Shame, because they're nice wheels and it was a decent price for both. But I guess that's why they were cheaper.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't find their website as easy to navigate as the other one but I'll keep the discount in mind!

That stopping distance in the wet is enough to put me off. Especially in a rear wheel drive car. With the sun and rain right now the roads are extremely greasy and slippy so I really don't want to take the chance with them.

Good year or Michelin it is I think.
