A question about offsets

Post by tee.gilding » Wed May 29, 2019 8:52 am

Hey guys, on my daily I have a set of Style 194's with the following dimensions:

Front = 17 x 8J ET34 / Rear = 17 x 8.5J ET37

I'm wanting to know if I swap my Style 135's from my zed over to the daily if I'll need spacers?

Front = 18 x 8J ET47 / Rear = 18 x 8.5J ET50

From my assumptions, I'll need 15mm spacers front and rear, if not more. Am I right?

A question about offsets

i always use willtheyfit.com for these types of things.

but yes, a 13mm spacer will turn an ET47 into an ET34 exactly, plus extra if you want to move the wheels out further than they already are - probably anywhere from 5-15mm extra.

So does that mean an 8J ET34 will sit 13mm further out than an 8J ET47? Effectively, the lower the ET number, the further out towards the road the wheels will sit?

Yes, that's it. :thumbsup: That's subject to both rims being the same width.

they'll defo need spacers on an e91 - MV2's look a bit pants the E9* range tbh, you'd be better sticking with the 17s that are on it, as they are nicley offset and will give a better ride :)

Thanks, I've checked on there and I'm loving the diagram they do to show you the difference!

I'm thinking that might be the best plan, seeing as I was just hoping to swap straight over and not have to go buy spacers as well. But I have spotted a set of Style 162 wheels that I think would look pretty decent - but they're rare and rather expensive! They're the same offsets as the Style 194's though, so would fit pretty much perfectly with a subtle lowering from some Eibach springs...
