I’m about to order new tyres for the Z4. Before pressing the order button on Black-circles, I wanted to get your thoughts as I’m going non standard on the rear tyre a. to help improve the ride and b. 245’s are significantly cheaper.
BMW M Sport E89 28i with 18” wheels
Current setup Bridgestone RFT:-
Front 225 40 R18
Rear 255 35 R18
Proposed setup Dunlop Sport Max RT2. I had these on my old Audi, really quiet, good grip and long lasting. Good value at the moment with discount code, £377.96 all in.
Front 225 40 R18
Rear 245 40 R18
Any thoughts appreciated, especially on the change in rear tyre size.
Thanks Paul

Do it
245-40-18 on rear 8.5j rim is perfection & zero negatives in doing so.

Ordering this evening, thanks for the feedback.

Had the same tyres fitted to mine a month ago although 255 35 18 for the rears. I chose them partly for their low noise rating and they certainly deliver on that attribute - so far I’ve been very happy with that and the grip and superior comfort compared to the Bridgestone RFT’s that were on the car previously

I’ve just done exactly the same on my new 35is although I’ve gone for PS4’s .The change to 245 from 255 is negligible and the ride is soooo much smoother on standard tyres, I’ve also added some 12mm spacers to the rear.Mog wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 6:29 am I’m about to order new tyres for the Z4. Update on the Dunlop Sport Max tyres after 1000 miles
First impressions, much quieter with roof up and smoother drive even on Hampshire’s finest pot holed roads. The most significant improvement is the car no longer tramlines on uneven surfaces. All in, well worth the money and I managed to sell the rear RFT’s on eBay to offset the cost.
I’ve purchased an Airman ResQ tyre repair kit in case I pick up a puncture. £28, but you do get a compressor as well as sealant, useful if you get a slow puncture.

Interesting reading this thread.
We have the older version of this tyre on our Coupe (Sport maxx RT with extra loading) on standard 18" sizes and the car is ultra-firm, and tramlines like crazy.
