Powder Coat or Wt Paint

I have some genuine AC Schnitzer Type 4 wheels. I've decided that after 11 years, they could do with refurbishing.

What's the best route - powder coating or wet finish?

I’d have them powder coated and then painted to the desired colour

Hi, i think the most important aspect is how thorough the company are that do the work rather than the powder coat/wet spray choice.
Completely stripped to bare metal is better than a quick rub down.
Most firms seem to offer powder coating so I’d imagine there’s a good reason for that, i was a powder coater many years ago but the work was mainly aluminium window extruded sections using mechanised reciprocators with the odd industrial job using hand guns.
I’m not sure if all wet spraying jobs are oven baked as powder coating always is?

My understanding is that powder coating is generally more rugged compared to a wet spray but a wet spray often looks better.

Im pretty sure I went for a powder coat primer and wet spray silver - I remember the guy saying it was the best of both worlds.

Are they split rims? Ive had problems in the past with split rims and some wheel refurbishers not keen to do them, as to do the job properly they need to come apart which can lead to other issues and expense. I would try always to go for powder coating myself, with paint as a second option.

Not split rims. Going to have them painted Anthracite/Grey similar to first picture. They are currently Silver as per second picture.

Those are lovely wheels. I suggest powder coating then spray painted Anthracite/Grey. I have had 5 sets of wheels powder coated without a problem. Do it, then sell the wheels to me for £400. :D
I used to have two boys and a girl. Now I have two Men and a Woman. :?
