Will 18" Veemann VC359s fit a 3.0si? (yes they will - pics inside)

Post by Iggy » Sat Nov 24, 2018 6:36 pm

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this. I've just posted about my car being crashed into in a different thread. As a result, the front nearside wheel needs replacing but as it's an unknown CSL rep we've decided to change the whole set. I'm looking for 18s, CSL-ish, and that fit 255/35/18 tyres on the back and 225/40/18 on the front. I've found Veemann VC359s which i love the look of but as i'm not much of a wheel expert I'm not sure how well these would fit, if at all. I'm looking at the following sizes:
Front: 18x8.5xET35
Rear: 18x9.5xET35

There's also an option to go with ET45 on the rear. Could anyone please suggest if those will fit with no issues? The car is on standard sport springs.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Pop them in here https://www.willtheyfit.com and compare with oem (8j 47et, 8.5j 50et)
You can afford roughly 15mm on the front and 20mm on the rear on stock tyre sizes

Thanks a lot philbo, very handy. Are those the 'poke' values? If so do you know what the 'inset' values would have to be before the wheel starts rubbing on the inside?

You won't be bothered by any possibility of rubbing on inside with those offsets of et 35 ,
With the rear 9.5j its effectively like adding a 28mm spacer to a set of Mv2s or 108s , if you opt for the et45 option imagine adding a 18mm spacer ( almost perfection for stance & arch fill )

Front 8.5j et35 is like adding a 18mm spacer to stock mv2 / 108s , with your 225 40 18 going on a 8.5j rim i can't see a problem there either
So answer to your post is YES they will fit , you just need to choose how pokey or wide a stance you want for the rears , myself i would opt for the et45 but others may risk the et35

They will look awesome - however if you have lowered your car, you will get some arch rubbing on the fronts. 18mm wider is too aggressive imo. You may get away with a 215 section tyre, if you don't mind the stretched look. If you're on m-sport springs, you should be ok

The car is on standard sport springs & the wheel widths will work in favour with 225 40 & 255 35 as they will roll the outer edges of tyre slightly .
Agreed if lowered then highly probable there will be arch rub on lock & compression

Yeh I mean poke, but listen to Mr wilks there ^ he's a bit more experienced in the wheel department than I am

Cheers! I am indeed on standard m-sport springs and probably won't go any lower.

Thanks mr wilks! How risky do you think it would be to go the et35 route at the rear? Is it likely to require a camber adjustment to make it work? Ideally I'd like to push them out as far as I can before any rubbing, preferably without any custom adjustments to make them fit. I've been doing some research and have found some examples of people running both et35 and et45 with 9.5j on the rears on the si coupe with apparently no issue. I suppose i could go the et45 route and then experiment with spacers to be safe.

I'm still undecided about which rear offset to go for. I'm seriously contemplating going for the risky option of the et35 but i don't want the wheel to stick out beyond the arch or have to adjust camber to make it fit inside. Has anyone tried a 9.5j et35 wheel and can say for sure that it won't protrude past the fender? I saw Scottiee's, thread where he installed 25mm spacers on MV2s which looked perfect to me. But the ones I'm looking at will extend a further 2.7mm which isn't much but could be enough to cause problems. Do you think I'm better off going with et45 and playing around with spacers?

I would always prefer the option of adding spacers when you are getting to a matter of 5mm , i don't think you will have rub but et45 then add a 5mm spacer could make the difference to know for sure you will be ok ?
At weekend i'm putting my Si coupe on the road , i have a set of et 35 9.5j Veemann 19s in garage that i intend trying on at some point , not that helps much though as the car is lowered :P

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll go for the et45 route.

For visual comparison the 9j et 35 would be 2mm further out than this 224 rear on Se E85 , the et 45 the face would be 8mm further in
