E89 - 8j, ET47 front + 8.5J ET50 - Will they fit

Post by Muzzled » Wed Sep 19, 2018 1:16 pm

I'm considering the purchase of some new wheels for my Z4. (e89, 20i)

They are 18" E46 clubsports.

5x120 stud pattern. Front = 8J ET47, Rear 8.5J ET50.

I'm concerned about whether they will fit and would really appreciate any advice please. Also interested if you know the recommended tyre sizes. Thank you very much.

Those dimensions are also standard E85/86 18" dimensions FYI - I would imagine they will fit on an E89 but you may need some spacers to stop them looking lost inside the wheel arches as E89 generally has lower offset wheels IIRC.

I'm sure someone else will be along with some pictures of E85/86 wheels on an E89!

E89 18" rims appear to be the same widths but ET29 on the front and ET40 on the back (see http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/293)

Those E46 rims will therefore end up 18mm further inboard at the front and 10mm further inboard at the rear.

Thank you very much for this information. Sounds like I should be looking at some spacers to compliment the new wheels then.

In your experience, is it likely that these will clear all necessary components without spacers?

i dont know about clearing components, but it'll look absolutely awful! most people want to move standard wheels out by 10-15mm... you'd be moving them in by 18mm!

but fortunately 20mm spacers aren't that hard to come by
