Self refurb - bronze MV2

I'm about to embark on a self-refurb of my old tatty MV2s. They're kept as winter wheels so I'm not precious about them being perfect.

Having a think about colours reminded me of the bronze Bola B1 that were for a sale a while back and I always thought they looked great on the sterling grey...

Tempted to do this on my wheels. Pretty sure this'll be Marmite, or even edging towards a general "f**k that". Also open to other interesting colour suggestions. Not interested in silver, black or athracite

Cheers!

Bronze MV2?

Well I'm not sure I'd be that brave, but Gold always looked good on Blue Subarus!

And it's your car - might be handy if someone could photoshop for you to get an idea of how it might look (sorry that's way outside my skill-set).
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

That bronze looks great on the 6 spoke Bola B1 which is a classic wheel, but may not work so well on the 10 double-spoke MV2s. Then again, if it was slightly more bronze than the attached pic and the centre caps were changed, it could be a unique look for your car.

Nice find, thanks!

That definitely gives me a good idea of how they might look.

Those center caps are bloody awful

So my journey began this evening, somewhat slowly due to the bloody sandblaster being broken so I did some by hand to see how it would go. Pleasantly surprised with the results of an hour's effort. All kerb marks gone and a remarkably smooth surface after a run down some some Emery and wire wool/wd40...

Cheers. Might be a bit slow progress but I'll update as I get through it. Got my sandblaster up and running so going to give that a go as well as some nitromors to speed up the whole process.

Tried the sandblaster out tonight and while it worked, it was slow so not convinced it's the best route forward. Putting all my faith it nitromors now before resorting to hand-sanding most of it!

Self refurb - bronze MV2

I’d be interested to see how lengthy this process is. I’ve thought about doing this myself but not sure whether it would be too time intensive to do this at home, or just send it off to refurb.

Naturally there is some satisfaction and pride doing it yourself... but with the Zed getting on slightly there’s plenty of other areas needing attention too!

Will follow with interest, keep the pics coming!

I'm afraid to say that this project has died. I've decided to sell up and these wheels will be going as a second winter set included in the sale.

Fwiw I agree but the satisfaction of doing it yourself, but it did take me ages to get to that point. Might've been a different story however if I'd used a paint stripper.

I'll just never know sadly!
