Refurb time - colour opinions
I need to put my style 189s in for a refurb. I bought them secondhand and although straight and true do have a fair amount of kerb rash and flaking paint.
I am pondering colour options and am trying to decide between keeping them stock silver, or going grey/gunmetal. I think some contrast with my sterling grey car is necessary, but I don’t want black.
I’m not sure though if a darker colour will suit this style of wheel. There is always the option of selling these and buying another, different set I suppose. They would need to be 18s though.
Thoughts and opinions?
Here’s how the car currently looks:

Bright silver due to your dark paintwork!
Or black if you want a different look. I wouldn’t go for a grey/anthracite as you will lose the contrast and it may look like a mismatch to the body colour.

Depends on the look you're going for really. If you want to go the Stirling Grey contrasting with black bits (grills, wheels, headlights) then black could be good.
Personally, I feel black doesn't do any wheel any favours. Especially the more detail a wheel has - it just gets lost.
Honestly, I think the wheels really suit your car, so I'd keep them and I'd keep the silver. The contrast at the moment is spot on for me.

Thanks all. I hadn’t considered shadow chrome. That could look good.
My concern with the darker colours is not just lack of contrast, but as these wheels are a simple design, with quite broad spokes it might look like too much - a big slab/surface area of colour compared to the more delicate/intricate wheel designs. Grey on grey with something like CSL reps can look good IMO, from some pics I found via Google.

Thanks Jamie. Yes, I really like the simple design, with a reasonable amount of concave and that they sit a bit further out than standard. Not too much though.

Shadow chrome, definitely. Looks lovely against sterling grey paintwork.

Either shadow chrome or sparkle silver. I have the same colour car as you with sparkle silver 224s looks good.
Shadow is good too but I prefer the lighter colour with grey
