Bmw wheel balance weights

Post by Sae » Sun Aug 26, 2018 8:03 am

Im just about to put the 224s back on my zed with pss tyres, I dont want the fitters to put the usual prone to rust steel items on the alloys and wondered where folks got their non corroding items?

Any links appreciated.

Cheers, Sae

When I get new tyres on my bike I paint the wheel weights the colour of the wheel to hide them a bit.
You could do that instead.

They normally put the stick on weights now don’t they...?

Never had an issue with corroding weights, surely they're all zinc plated these days?

I just wish tyre fitters would remember to remove all the residue and adhesive properly !

I cleaned up my wheels pending a new set of tyres. The weights I had were rusty? Or at least very corroded. The new ones I’ve seen are zinc plated like mentioned above? But I think I’ll be painting them up? That’s a good shout  I also pre prepped them and removed the weights properly... they’re not as erm? Caring as you!

As mentioned above, modern weights won't rust. If you are looking for an easy to apply rust prevention product then try here https://www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-pr ... s/atom-mac. I use Atom-Mac after I wash the car. I mix it 50ml to 1 litre of water in a spray bottle and spray it directly onto the brake discs, calipers, suspension and anything else I can reach. I also use it on my lawnmowers, padlocks and anywhere else that is likely to rust. Great stuff. If you are after serious undersealing and rust prevention products look at other Bilt Hamber products. I don't have any connection with BH, I just like some of their gear. They are Essex based though, so I suppose I am supporting a local company.
