m3 e92 style wheels for the z4 coupe

Post by esafaeian » Thu Aug 09, 2018 12:56 am

Hey guys,
Recently bought a set a 19" m3 replicas that were very badly scratched up, so ended up sanding them back, had to fill in deeper scratched, gouging and then repainted in silver. Let me know what you think - still a bit undecided and thinking I may go BMW style 32s instead.

The last image is the worst wheel before I got to work on them.

ps. the fronts were flat when I took the photos.

let me know what ya think

good job on the refurb but sorry not feeling those on the coupe

Maybe 32's will be a better shout

Yeah I’m still undecided on the wheels, fairly confident I’ve ruled out the 32’s as they won’t look as aggressive (being oem offsets) and would need spacers which I don’t want. Also they’re an older style wheel and wanted to keep my car more modern lookin wheels I think the 32s might make it look a bit older.

I’ve taken few more shots and the m3s are sloooooooowly growing on me... I know csl’s are the gold standard for z4 coupes but when these came up ridiculously cheap thought I’d give then a shot as the dimensions/offsets were bang on.

Day time pic attached and tyres all at proper psi’s. No rubbing issues whatsoever which is good!

Those M3 wheels look OK, but not that much different to MV2s IMHO - and they've got that same tiny slot in the spokes that's a b*gger to clean! :(

I'm sure there is a reason CSLs are so popular............

Yeah if I had the mv2s I would have been happy but my car came with the 203’s which are a bit too plain for my liking

Shame - I quite like the 203s!

My 1st Coupe had MV2s and I went off them the first time I washed it - that narrow slot is a right PITA! Then a few months after I sold it my nephew bought an E46 Sport Touring that had MV2s as standard, so I was glad my 2nd Coupe was on 108s. :)

But while 108s are easy to wash, they have other issues like the corrosion around the bolt heads that lifts the lacquer. :(

Although I do like 107s (Ellipsoids), I ended up buying some 224s - I just need to get around to fitting them.

Those wheels look pretty good. They fill the arches nicely. In the end all that matters is what you think 🤔 Whatever you put on there will be those who love’em and those who think they look terrible.
