Best riding run flat tyres
Yes, I know the run flats are not popular. I have Bridgestones on front and Michelins on rear, quite harsh, jumpy and like to tramlines. I used Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres and the ride was immediately far better; no tramlining, quieter and smoother. My question is does anyone have a good riding summer runflat recommendation?
Cheers,
Glenn

Thanks for that. Can you compare to Bridgestones?

I have to say that in my experience Bridgestone are the worst for ride quality and tramlining
I would ditch the runflats altogether but if you are keen to stick with them then the latest Michelin or Goodyear would be my choice.

Very much like you said above - Bridgestones a bit jumpy and tramlined a lot - I had them front and rear
TBH they were quite worn when I bought the car which seems to have a big effort judging by other threads
At first I only replaced the rears - tramlining disappeared straight away. That alone seemed to take a lot of the harshness away
No issues with noise
That was on my E85 - just replaced the rear Bridgestones on my E89 with P Zero's

Hi,
In my experience the best run flat tyres were the Goodyear, especially when compared to Bridgestone: no tram lining, low rolling noise and pretty good steering feedback.
Hope it helps

I had a 1 Series before my Z4 and went through 3 sets of 17 inch Pirelli Euforias, but by the time I needed the 4th set they were Pirelli P-Zeros.
It rode fairly firm, but then it did have M-Sport suspension, but nothing like as harsh as my Z4 does on 18 inch Bridgestones!
It also tram-lined a lot less, although it was a bit prone to it once the tyres got worn - especially if the pressures had dropped a bit.
If I was going to stick to run-flats, I would have tried Pirelli ones - but my current plan is for non-RFTs.

It was a while back, can’t remember the precise model...one of the Asymmetric. Anyway, I ended up removing the run flats and the car massively improved.

OP - if you must, I’d recommend Pirelli P Zeros.
Just be aware that:
A) they are more expensive than other premium brand non-RFTs.
B) they will wear quicker than a good set of Michelin’s.

Not on a Z but our F31 330d has Goodyear Eagle F1 run-flats. Owned several cars with run-flats but this is the 1st time ever that I don't want to remove them. Car rides and handles great plus the missus recently experienced a rear blow out at 70mph <cough> with no drama, just a ping on the dash and a warning that the tyre now has zero psi. Tyre repaired and they have done 23K miles and still about 4mm on them!
Z4MR E85 for sunny day Hooning.
Now with added joy of Gruppe M.

I'm happy to recommend the P Zeros - the ride is no worse than my '64 Cooper S
