Wheel recommendations

Post by whenimeetgod » Sat Feb 03, 2018 5:27 pm

Hi
I've just had a 2nd rim crack in 3 weeks. Both in the inside. No problem getting them welded up but maybe it's time to look at another set. Anyone got any recommendations for a decent make? I go down some dreadfully potholed country roads too fast so I'm guessing the problem lies there. Buggered if I'm getting rid of the Z for some 4x4 crap though

Which wheels have you got? I'm convinced bmw wheels aren't the best quality.
BBS CH-Rs are what I've got and you can't go wrong with bbs imo

Hi
They're the ones. I checked on the inside and they are marked up as BBS.
One of them has a 30mm runout as well as resembling a 50p coin.

This is the style on the car which look great. I may try to get a used one as a donor and get the 4 on my car refurbished one at a time.

:D whoooooops  seems you can go wrong with BBS :P
Its the roads , the rubber & obviously the miles that heighten chances of a buckle or split , seen way too many wheels by all levels of manufacturer that are either faultfree or faulty so to say any brand would or wouldn't be good enough to guarantee never failing just can't be done .

Haha, Yeh I should've waited til the op stated what wheels he was running! But the 108s are an awful wheel and I stand by my point that bbs are generally solid...

Ive just put a set of Oe BMW alloys in for refurb , style 232 to be exact , made by " Borbet " & taken from a X5 X6 .
Id like to wager they would be indestructible on a Z4 :P but man do they weigh heavy  35lbs apiece ( for comparison a genuine BBS CSL rim 19inch is around 29lbs & a 18inch MV2 is around 26lb :o )

Hoping they look good on my montego blue coupe once refurbed

I know, I know. Unfortunately, my road has been disowned by the council and I can't help but drive too fast on the bumpy, pot-holed road. Possibly why I've got a speed awareness course on Monday

I remember you telling me about your road, I thought the 108s were a strong wheel. Perhaps you need to slow down a bit....although in that car it's hard to.
