Brake calliper replacement
Hi all, got a seized front calliper,I'm wondering weather to replace with genuine BMW parts or just get it from Euro parts. Anybody got any advise or experience on this? Also would it be advisable to replace both front calipers? Thanks

When this happened to mine I got a genuine refurbed one from eBay - when I sent them my seized one back I got a refund. They obviously then refurb and sell on. Or you could buy a refurbed one outright... or buy from euro car parts - it’s not something I’d spend BMW dealer money on. I only replaced one, not sure if there would be any reason to replace both sides.
Annoyingly the refurbed M one came to me in silver, even though the originals are black

I would have a quick look and see what is sticking. It may just need a quick clean up and re grease of the moving parts. Depends how handy you are though.

This is possible, though I needed help... as it turned out the rubber on mine was borked and the piston properly seized

Yeah, that could be the problem. I have rebuilt a few calipers now, I buy a rebuild kit from one of the specialists online.

Thanks for the replies, Got it booked in at local garage,he's going to try and clean the caliper,if it's still no good I'll just get one from Euro parts.

For what it's worth, if you need a direct replacement I'd get a refurbished set on eBay. They'll be OEM and last another decade or more. Plus the one you HAVENT replaced could still fail? So best to do in sets?
