fix worn front lips w/ M aerodyn package lips instead of buying new wheel housing cover

Post by tintoverano » Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:32 pm

by accident I ordered the M front lips looking at the drawings on https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... 1628038997

they can be mounted nicely w/o any extra change, just tear off the worn lips from the cover by hand, remove 2 screws there and slide the new lips under the wheel cover to match the holes

What do they do?

I see they are called pressure lip.

One of mine is torn so was thinking of replacing it anyway, just interested that’s all?

they are harder, don't bend that easily - I don't think they do much for daily driving

definitely much easier to fit them, since no need to replace (and buy) the wheel covers if you wanted to fix these lips the standard way

There are 3 parts, one per wheel well plus a centre under the bumper/radiator..that one gets ripped off all the time when parking over kerbs..

Typical signs of missing pressure lips is drag/front end going light in excess of 155mph

I find it is efficiently counterbalanced by the weight shift in my underwear triggered automatically when the front goes light at that speed. :D
