Should remote roof work to close?

Post by Arron1970 » Mon Jun 11, 2018 11:48 am

Hi

Got my first Z4 yesterday - an E85 2004 2.5i

Lucky to have what seems to be the OEM remote roof operation (assuming there was an OEM version) that remotely downs the hood with 3 or 4 presses on the unlock button on the remote.

I don't seem to be able to operate a remote closure though? I have tried pressing both the unlock and lock button 3 or 4 times to no joy.

Does anyone know what key sequence of whether or not remote close is even an option?

Thanks in advance

Arron

OP, you have an aftermarket module fitted. Factory, you have to hold the button down and you can’t close the roof.

Just about to collect my E89. How do you open the roof with the key fob? I can't find anything in the manual about this.

Yes you can. Mine closes if I hold the lock button down.

From what I have read, roof closing via key - you can activate the feature via Carly. Its on my list to do!

Also easy enough to code in via NCSexpert.

Happy to do this for anyone!

Annoyingly mine doesn’t appear to be coded in to even open with the fob unlike most on here, let alone close. Tempted to get a gaptech but can’t really justify £100 for such a small thing.

Hi Neil. Is this the software you are referring to...

The subscription with Carly has put me off as other than a bit of coding I probably won’t use it.

Not much of a one for gadgets. But just thought I would try the double key press thing....

Well the roof doesn't close, but the windows drop, never new that. :D

Doubt I will ever try it again.
