Low headlight beam

Post by Nanu » Tue Dec 06, 2016 8:25 pm

Now that the dark nights are upon us I have just began to notice when driving along roads with no lighting the dipped beam appears to be a bit lower than it should be. I know they are supposed to be self leveling but how can I test if the height is right or is it a dealership job?

I'm sure there was a thread about this the other day - the response was a possible faulty sensor on the front suspension/wishbone IIRC

When I switch on my lights the beams move up and then down. Some kind of pre setting.
Then if not happy with the position I get a wide blade screwdriver about 1/4 inch (because I don't have the correct hexagon shaped tool) which just about fits the white hex socket which can be seen just behind the lamp through the frame work.
To test when on the road accelerate hard and as the bonnet rises the lamp beams drop slightly and vice versa.
