Now there's a solution. Don't have your car serviced at a dealer and your wheels won't crack.matthurley wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2015 6:37 pm This is why I never get my car serviced at my dealer - bunch of w****r$

Going to change my 326's and get something better with None RFT's.
I hit a pothole south bound on the A43 near the Green Man just past Silverstone at about 80mph. KER-BOOM!!!!!! Car shook and nearly lost control of it. Alloy seems OK.
The roads are a disgrace considering what tax we pay for the "privilege" of driving on them.

What wheels have you got? RFT?Ds233 wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 7:51 am I'm going to bring this back up because my Z4 is starting to cost me an absolute fortune. I spend more money on getting new wheels and tyres than anything else. I have had to replace my rear wheels on my car every 3_6 months. BMW flat out refused to admit there was a problem.iv been told by another wheel and tyre specialist it's a very common problem with this car and it's to do with the run flats that are on the car. They dont have much play and the wheel takes the full impact of every pothole.
It's an absolute liberty that I keep having to replace them to the point I'm not enjoying the car anymore.
BMW just refuse there is a problem and say its pothole damage. £1600 everytime I need to get two rear wheels.
If something isnt sorted soon I will be moving away from BMW and never using them again!!!

The solution is running non run flats. End.
I was lucky enough (a few years after starting this thread), to stumble upon a set of 4 good used 326 alloys for dirt cheap! Anyway I fitted them and replaced all the useless run flats with Pirelli p zero non run flats, and almost two years later, not a single crack to be seen!

No it’s not, i replaced my rim crackers (runflats) with normal tyres & they still cracked!DreamchaserRoss wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 1:46 pmHi there,Ds233 wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 7:51 am I'm going to bring this back up because my Z4 is starting to cost me an absolute fortune. The cure is to throw the 326 wheels in the skip & replace with items that aren’t made from reconstituted eggshells

Fair enough to ya!
I did use non run flats on my old 326's that had been previously welded, and they cracked again where they was welded... But I've not had any more cracks since running non run flats (Fingers crossed)
Now to repairing the rest of the car's faults...

In fairness to BMW, this one looks as though it's had quite a hard life.

Op, take the 326 alloys off and replace them with an aftermarket set of alloys that you like and non run flats.
The 326M alloys look nice, but they are ridiculously fragile.

I have also had 3 cracked rear alloys found by my dealership and was able to get one welded . Following my complaints BMW ran a run out test for free ? and made encouraging sounds about the results indicating money being stumped up by their good selves. I then recieved a request for my other wheels to be tested suggesting further recompense could be forthcoming . However BMW later contacted me saying they would not be putting their hands in their pockets after all.(surprise) Another day wasted.
Did anyone hear about a class action on going in USA?

Hi. I bought a Zed 3 months ago and after 1 month, my rear drivers side wheel cracked in 4 places! Massive pothole and inexperience of said 19”wheels. I have had it fixed professionally and no worries. I am replacing it soon but, it is possible to have them repaired. :roll

I ditched the beamer wheels and RF tires. The occasional pothole is no worry and she rides a dream.
