I had a problem opening the bonnet but eventually I managed to get it open. Now I have a problem in that it will not close properly
Any ideas please

Re: Bonnet fails to lock
i had the same problem today, im putting it down to the hot weather
the normal fix for both problems is to grease the mech under the bonnet.
if it does get stuck closed. normally it can be opened with one person pushing on the bonnet while another pulls the release

Re: Bonnet fails to lock
+1 A bit of TLC involving oil and grease is all that is required.

Had this on my Z3 and a bit of grease did the trick.

I had the same issue. Gave it a good clean with WD40 and then a good grease to keep it sloppy. Don't forget to do the both bits, the latch on the bonnet and the lock on the chassis.

Thank you to everybody who replied
I have only just purchased the Z4 as a weekend car and thought that this problem was more serious than 'grease' but after cleaning the catch and spring as suggested and trying to close the bonnet a few more times it finally locked.
Thank you all again

Re: Bonnet fails to lock
I fiddled with the rubber bump stops just behind the headlamps.
I screwed them out a bit thinking it would make the bonnet more stable only to find the bonnet harder to close and open.
