Pro media screen.

Post by Tonybz » Wed Feb 27, 2013 10:34 pm

Thought I'd ask the question. How fragile are the pro media screens? I've a 6 month old 5 series and in these cars they only have to be rubbed with your finger and they will scratch the anti-glare coating. Just wondering if anyone has any issues such as this?

No problems with mine. Just wipe with damp cloth. Matte finish.

So it has a clearcoat on the screen, similar to an iPad screen cover?
The F series screens are dreadfull. You only have to go near them and you scratch the anti-glare coating. It's a joke, although not a funny one when its not in your possession when it's scratched..... :x

So sorry to seem pedantic. I understand what you mean by matte finish, obviously for anti glare, but say,if you were to rub your finger over the matte finish, would it mark it?

It will leave grease behind.. which I just wipe away with a damp cloth, or a touch of APC (all purpose cleaner). Not had an issue in 3 years and I'm meticulous.

Is defiantly a different type of matte finish on the screen, lets hope they stick to it.i NEVER touch the pronav screen in my 5 series and it looks like torvill & dean have been practicing on it. You only notice it in certain light but it drives me mad. I'm eventually going to take the screen out, polish the anti glare off, and fit a quality matte finish IPad film.... Just like they should of done at the factory. Bloody cheapskates.

I've read about this on 5 series forums. I'm surprised they'd be any different.
