How to backup music to USB?

Post by wparente » Wed Sep 19, 2012 11:26 pm

I have a new to me 2009 Z4. When I put USB memory stick in the counsel port, it recognizes the music and plays the music I have on the stick (2 songs) on fat partitions. However when I go to back-up the music from the hard drive to the USB I get to the OK screen and then nothing happens other than it puts me back to the beginning of the back-menu. If I had another memory dongle I would try that, but I do not. Being that it recognizes the songs on the dongle I suspect it’s partitioned properly, so any suggestions? :headbang:

I'm using the port in the counsel between the seats. I have yet to find one in the glove box, if there is one!

Yes there is! That's the one that you need to use to transfer music.
When you look in the glove box bend down and look at top, front right hand side.

I would post a picture but I'm having a little trouble figuring out how. What I have in my glove box is about a 1" x 2" empty rectangular box with a metal clip inside in the upper right corner. The box appears to have slots on the inside of the box to guide in a module of some kind. I tried to plug in a USB cord in the area of the clip but no luck. I'm guessing, somewhere along line the USB module was removed.

That what I was looking at only it was the receptical behind the USB cover. Being it is a CPO, I will be taking a trip back to the dealer in search of a replacement.
