Roof problem

Post by rayz4 » Thu Mar 29, 2012 5:14 pm

It started last week, BONG BONG and the red roof warning centre dash between the dials glowing nice and bright. So rang the stealers to book it in for repair, ok see you next week mate. Left work today, nice sunny day again drop the roof i`m on my way, then BONG BONG only this time it wont shut up. Finally get home and try to put the roof back up but it only wants to come half way up then stops dead , no window operation either. So ring stealers, ok bring it down, leave it with us and we`ll sort tomorrow, ok mate. On the way to stealers it stops BONGING so i pull over and try to put the roof back up, guess what, yep it closed all the way complete with window operation. So the bloody thing is staying in the closed position until they fix it. It better stay working or it`s hello porsche !!!

Someone else here had the same issue.. Turned out to be a dodgy sensor/switch.

Hope thats all it is, meaning i hope it`s a relatively simple and quick fix.
Really need the roof down while we have such great weather and knowing the roof will go back up when required. Shame really cos it`s such damn fine car in all other respects.

Ours started doing the same and with the added fun of the boot only opening occasional. It did this after only a week and less than 400miles on it from the factory.

Goes back to the dealer this week. I hope they fix it without any fuss or hassel.

I had a microswich replaced a few weeks ago, but fortunately the roof never got stuck in the half way position.

If you go into the CHECK CONTROL when the red message appears, it will tell you the fault code. I passed this onto the dealers as mine was a bit intermittent also.

I've had my roof up and down many times since the microswitch was replaced and no issues at all.
