Hi All

For those of us getting close to the end of our 3 yr warranty, :heat: it would be a good idea to compile a comprehensive list of all issues experienced by owners / members in order to allow us to properly check out our Zeds Prior to the warranty period ending.

So, for everyone's benefit; if you have experienced ANY issues with your E89, please insert a comment on each issue, preferably in the format below (copy & Paste)

1. E89 Model (e.g. 35i DCT)
2. Year / Reg (2009 - 59reg)
3. Colour exterior (Deep Sea Blue)
4. Colour interior (Pure White)

5. Issues experienced, notes & status e.g.

5a. Issue description - Cracked Wheels
5b. Current status - Resolved / unresolved
5c. Warranty Claim? - Cost covered completely under warranty? /or / Cost part covered warranty and customer paid £1234 / or / Cost completely paid by customer at £1234
5d. Comments? - Any vital information or comments to add?

All feedback appreciated

To cater to iwatch's needs...

E89 35i DCT
2010
Alpine White
Ivory interior

Cracked 296 wheels x 4

1 paid by dealer one by me
3 paid by dealer one by me (new 326M Sport)

Faulty flap in rear offside exhaust. Entire new rear assembly

That's about it!! Pretty good, apart from the wheels I think....

I'm now a few days under 6 months from the warranty ending.

If I keep the car then I'll definitely extend the warranty.

Am lazy so have copied and pasted from posts elsewhere
1) http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic ... 73#p314873 'Sounds a little like my experience with my 35i manual. I hadn't really noticed the change properly but sometimes thought the throttle was a little odd as the car would dip in acceleration when gunning it. When i came back from my jaunt around Europe end June/July, about a week later, the engine management light came on, BMW said this was a minor issue to do with mixture and airflow meter but while i was waiting to get the car booked in the engine began to cut out completely. BMW had the car for a week, it took 2 days for the car to take the software upload! I did ask if Microsoft did the coding and was promised they didn't :-)
At the end of the week and £1700 pounds of warranty work later i got my baby back with a 'we're not really sure what it was but we've replaced fuel lines to injectors, plugs, air flow meter etc so she should be fine'. The dealership did say that one of the turbos wasn't functioning properly and the other was compensating for it but they didn't know why.
What you have described sounds very similar to how my car reacted before conking out altogether. I guess mine had been playing up for 6 or 8 weeks before i realised there was a real problem. Silly i know but i just put it down to me not being so smooth on the gas and poss not being used to a turboed engine.'

Postby roofless - Wed Nov 17, 2010 9:41 pm
Mine has been in for a week after the engine management light came on and car stopped. Two days to install software upgrade and from having read posts elsewhere on the forum i'm sure that was to do with the turbo adjustment. BMW say one turbo was compensating for the other. I also have condensation in the rear left light cluster and am getting BMW to change this when the car is serviced in 10 days time. Just on 23,000 miles but this is my 3rd BMW and the one i have had the most trouble with. Also have the usual BMW convertible problem that the windows don't function properly and come part way down intermittently after putting roof up or down.'

3) http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic ... 23&t=30382 'Feel divorce imminent

Postby roofless - Tue Sep 13, 2011 6:00 am
Just came back from a two week jaunt around europe. For the last week of the trip haven't been able to use roof. Got back to car one day to find oil on side of drivers seat and in the alcantara of the pure white package :x :(
Thought someone had thrown something at first till i saw oil streaming out of the roof cavity as i activated the roof. Boot is soaked on drivers side, parcel shelf also behind seat :x
Rapidly falling out of love with my zed.'

4) http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic ... em#p375018 'Re: Dealership called, quality enhancement due! Update and i

Postby roofless - Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:02 pm
My baby went in for the warranty work today; recall on the vents in rear bumper, also had the rear nearside light replaced as there was condensation in it and when it was raining earlier in the year the indicator stopped working.
Usual service manager was on holiday and i was met by one of the engineers, 'ah, i worked on your car before, when you had the EML fault.'
My eyes lit up, 'ah, i asked so what really was the problem?'
I've mentioned it elsewhere on the forum but the engine was cutting out when i came back from my trip to europe last year and the car was in for a week, at the time i was told one of the turbos was compensating for the other.

'3 injectors were faulty' was the response. Took us ages to work it out with BMW. We had one similar just before yours and two more afterwards, those were easy as we realised what was going on by then. Seems to have been a problem with that age of car.'

Mine is a 59 plate so any other 35i owners had a similar issue?'

Think that just about covers it
PS all dealt with under warranty.

Great Post! I was looking for similar. I've recently ordered the 2012 35i Z4 and it should arrive in the US on Dec. 6th. So hopefully I will be able to pick it up by the 7th or 8th. In the mean time I REALLY needed help trying to decide if purchasing the Vehicle Service Agreement (pays cost of parts and labor for "covered" repairs father the 4y/50k mile Factory warranty expires), was worth purchasing for 7y/70k mile (gives 3 more years of warranty) for $2790.00 (1788 pounds) and $100.00 (64 pounds) deductible??? Sounds like I would have to have almost $3000.00 worth of covered repairs in 3 years for it to be worth it. Are Z4's needing that expensive repair between 4 and 7 years old??
But, I think I am just going to go for it for piece of mind... :)
THANKS!
