New Z4 - Couple of minor niggles

Post by djtex » Thu May 12, 2011 10:13 am

I collected my new car on Saturday 35i M-Sport, and I love it. It is genuinely fantastic, though I do have a couple of minor niggles, and wondered whether anyone else has had similar stuff?

Firstly the sat nav screen rattles and creaks but only tends to happen in the morning when the car is cold, does down once it warms up.

The second issue, may not be an issue at all, which is that the brake pedal has a little horizontal play in it, maybe 1/4-1/2 an inch. So not a great deal, but I haven't noticed this on other cars before, can anyone test there's for me and see whether they have the same issue or is it solid? Th brakes work absolutly fine, so it's probably just me.

Anyone, I am genuinely thrilled with the car, especially the colour combo I went for of Space Grey and Walnut Leather. :)

Congrats! Walnut is a great colour of leather.

Not noticed any rattling or creaking from my sat nav screen - sometimes when its cold and it folds shut, you hear the motor a bit more than usual, but other that that its normally quiet.

Get straight onto your dealer for any, thats ANY minor niggles you have djtex, ASAP......they should bend over backwards to keep you as a happy customer. And besides, we all know those little niggles turn into giant monsters after a very short time.
I'm a cyclist, who, after many dull years of Volvo and VW estates has reverted to driving a '07 Z4R 2.0i Ti Silver for the pure pleasure of it.

I have done already, and actually they are doing me a favour by collecting and delivering my car from my office which is quite along way out of their area. Sadly they can't see it until the 26th though. Any thoughts on the brake pedal?

Is your car auto or manual? My brake pedal does not have any side movement, but clutch pedal has about 3mm. It seems normal for the clutch pedal, but not so sure about brake pedal.

It's a manual. 3mm i wouldn't have noticed i don't think, not without looking anyway, but up to 1/2 an inch on the brake seems a bit odd.

Not sure if this is much help as mines an Auto but my brake pedal also has about 1/2" of sideways movement in it.

My previous E85 Z4 was the same too.

My E85 has lots of lateral movement on the pedal too, in the ranges suggested above. Due to the nature of brake pedals mounting, I think that it is ok.

Worth checking other cars when you go to the dealers next. Just get in and have a wiggle :)

Both my E89s had play in the brake pedal.

Was the first thing I spoke to the dealer about as I was driving away with my new car. Quick U-Turn and a tech out to have a look.
