Yes, of course. Your SMD's will be taken off as toll fees.

Ok, so the German (eu) switches are different to ours, I think we've now established that.

This now poses another question; why? Or did they install resistors after a certain date?

These SMD's are a substantial part of all roof microswitches, it doesn't work without it.
Just have a look on your floor or in the garbage of the cut housing.

    Same thought.
As the whole block was potted, both resistors were cut out while opening. That can happen very easily.

Not "yet" had a problem with these switches in 12 years, but soon after acquiring the car, i liberally sprayed all the switches and mechanism with some silicone spay.
Is the green part of the switch hard or a rubber boot?

They are quite brittle so will have come off with the resin seems the only option

    I would NOT recommend this!

The main problem of these faulty components are cracks in the housings. That will happen regardless what you try to "improve" with any spray. But most sprays will destroy more than expected (i.e. WD40).

Yes, the green parts are rubbers boots.

I have another one, so now i'm going to have to rip that one apart (more carefully admittedly) to see.
Maybe that's why I had to change them?
