I've got rusty nuts!
Nice new set of silver bolts you need, as others have said get those locking bolts gone before they break on you on removal one day and cause a shitload of grief as well as lightening your wallet, set of these covers all bases and look rather nice once fitted too

I bought a set in 2019, but they weren't a very tight fit and I could see them falling off so I didn't use them in the end.
Not sure if E89 bolts are the same as E86, but E86 needs 17mm covers.
Coupes because stunning!

Not sure why anyone would pay 9 quid for cheap covers when you can replace with nice shiny new steel bolts for a few quid more

BMW bolts are £5 each!
I also need to give mine a refurb.
I was thinking just taking them all out and spray painting black.
I will look into this bbq paint or hammerite.
I just need a day where it isn’t raining or snowing!

£5 each for a 2 inch 12mm bolt! I don't know how they can say that with a straight face. I've got a set of 20 coming tomorrow at £17 for the lot. Will have to ditch the locking bolt but they are more trouble than they're worth anyway. Ordered a new set of 4 68mm centre caps, £5. I think BMW want about £50 for these.Deepseaskateboard wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:01 pm BMW bolts are £5 each!

I have also ordered some bolts covers just as belt and braces. I will probably use these as "storage protectors".
The only problem with painting them is that every time you put a socket on them the paint will chip off, unless they are stove enamelled or plated and that will be far more costly than replacements.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

It would probably cost more than £17 in paint and effort! Hehe.

Mr Tourette's post has the link. eBay. The ones on that link are even cheaper!

Just buy the BMW ones. Those things are all that keep your wheels onto car, that eBay listing even says they are tapered for aftermarket wheels and may not work for genuine ones.
Even if they do manage to hold the wheels on the chrome finish looks crap (nearly as crap as the chrome covers) and will probably be rusty in a year.

Taper looks the same as the oe bolts to my eye, finish looks fine in the metal.. Only time will tell but having handled and fitted them I'm willing to bet the will still be looking OK in a few years time that said I usually only take the zed out in fine conditions, at 15 quid when they start looking crap I'll not be too concerned about replacing them. OE ones hardly look great a few years down the line and at £100 for all 4 wheels I'll give that a miss. Wheels will be off once a year for cleaning thoroughly so will be able to check condition of them

Nope, any quality enamel/hammerite does the job. If you enamel them you can stove bake the enamel in your kitchen oven.Pondrew wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 7:04 pmI thought calipers get hot and had to be painted in heat proof paint.Boltz wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:25 pm Pondrew, some pictures of the rest of the car would be good, I would get those locking nuts off and give them a soaking in release oil or similar and see what they look like after to see if they are still okay to use. When I first got my Zed I used hammerite to spruce up the calipers and discs
