Hi guys,
I had a noise from the rear of my car, particularly noticeable when driving at low speeds and turning left. I knew it was to do with the wheels as the noise was more frequent when increasing with speed and less frequent when slow.
The garage initially replaced both rear discs + pads for £250. This did not fix it.
They have now diagnosed it as being the driver's rear wheel bearing & hub. They stated that this normally costs £500 (parts about £150-£200 but a lot of labour as they have to take the suspension off).
As they initially diagnosed it incorrectly, they said they will only charge me the difference which is a further £250. I just wanted to check that it sounds right to charge £500 for bearing and hub?

Wheel bearing noise is usually more pronounced when turning left or right as this loads/unloads the bearing.
Are you sure it’s definitely the wheels? The differential & prop shaft both could increase any noise with speed the same as the wheels can.

Jack the car up, and give the wheel a good wiggle, top to bottom and side to side. If there is movement then its the bearing.
