Thanks for the info RobbiZ4, one more question what would cause the fluid to leak and is there anything that you should do to ensure it does not leak in the future?RobbiZ4 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 6:13 pmThere is a min/max label on the white reservoir of the pump. If its missing, the oil level should be exact on the middle of the reservoir. In general, no oil is required over the lifetime of the car, except there is a leak.Silverstar wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:59 pm ]I am going to ask a silly question but how do you check the pump fluid level?

Many thanks I just checked itTimmyboybunter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 6:10 pmNot silly at all - find the pump in front of the battery, remove the grey foam above so you can see it. Left hand side of the pump is a plastic reservoir - on the side of it nearest the back of the car are 'min' and 'max' marks - the fluid is easy to see through the plastic if you wobble the pump.Silverstar wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:59 pm I am going to ask a silly question but how do you check the pump fluid level?

AFAIK nothing can be done in advance, except replacing all parts in time. And that "time" is between the age of 8 and 15.
Summary:
Dont worry, enjoy the car and call me if its required.

Slight hijack of the thread: Does anyone know what would be a good glue/adhesive to fix the foam sound insulation that sits on top of the hydraulic pump? I tore mine about 90% through when removing it to replace the salmon relays. Fortunately the tear is directly under the black bar so is not visible, but I would like to repair it if possible. Thanks.
And good result on the new battery, OP
Mine was replaced while still in Japan in 2017. Took a while to figure out the date. Someone had put a label with the date it was replaced on the battery - very helpful except they use the year the current Emperor started his reign, which at the time was H29 (29th year of Heisei era) - quick Google helped do the maths.
