Transmission Fault (E89 20i)

Post by ZedPhwoah » Thu Aug 22, 2019 9:06 pm

Took the car out to get fuel just down the road, on the way back I received a transmission fault on screen, wouldn't move out of 'Drive', and wouldn't exceed 1800rpm.

Once I parked up in the driveway, I received this message:

So I turned the engine off/ on and took the car out for another 15 minute spin and all seemed OK.

1) should I be worried?
2) is there anything I can/ should check?
3) could a recent remap have caused it?

Thanks!

I would:
- definitely worry
- read codes and post them here
Or take it to a BMW garage to check. You don't want to get stranded on your / a next trip.

I’d take it to a recommended indi rather than use bmw, they’ll more than likely charge like a wounded rhinoceros! :o

These cars, full of computerised electronics, very occasionally throw the odd crazy gremlin fault that vanishes and never comes back. Keep an eye on it. I'd get your research done though and find an Indy where you can take it to if this is not a gremlin and is a real issue.

I would have thought any really serious issue should have thrown a red fault light up on the dash!

I did get dash warning lights; but drove to and from work today with no issues and no lights. I'll grab the codes on Monday and post.
