Debadging - removal of faint outline of badge issue
I have debadged the front wings and boot of my deep sea blue E89. All sticky residue successfully removed, however, on the boot lid you can see a faint outline of where the "Z4" badge was. I have tried applying Autoglym super resin polish with a medium rubbing action and buffing it off with a micro fibre cloth but its not having any impact. Any suggestions please.

Can you see the outline or the 'inline'? The edge of the area that was outside the badge or the shadow of the adhesive that was under it?Boyo wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 4:29 pm I have debadged the front wings and boot of my deep sea blue E89. Wet sand with some 2500/3000 and then polish.Boyo wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 4:29 pm I have debadged the front wings and boot of my deep sea blue E89. If you can see the 'inline', then, before you sand, try wet-polishing with WD40 and a micro cloth. It'll do no harm and may well do the job.
If that fails, have the vertical boot panel machine polished (or do it yourself). This'll take care of inlines and outlines, of course. and the polished area will soon match the rest of the car as it's abraded by use.
Sanding only the badge area, even with 2500-3000 wet, will leave a shiny patch that you will see.

In the trade, there's an old belief that blue paints, especially dark ones, are softer than other colours, so sticking the badge back on may well be the best way to go.

Sorted - slapped the biggest M badge I could find over the offending area . Joking aside I decided to have the car detailed professionally and they did a two stage machine polish all over the car which needless to say removed the issue from the boot lid as well as various other light marks.

Hardly - its my third Z4. A lot of people think the back end looks better without the Z4 badge. With regard to the badges on the front wings below the repeaters then its all unnecessary waffle.
