Any z4 35is owners help needed

Post by Strikerxtx » Fri Apr 26, 2019 10:47 pm

Thanks for all you comments.
I have just found a recent post with a z4 experiencing which sound like the same issue.
They have just put Goodyear tyres on the back and left the Bridgestones on the front. The owner is saying the backend is all over the place. The only difference is he put goodyear runflats on the back.
Could the z4 really be such a different car on non matching rubber?
I have read a lot of review on the z4 high power models and more then half are not happy with the high speed feel. Could this just me multipled by the mismatch tyres?

I have had many fast cars my last being a jag xf s which gave over 300bhp which was very good in a straight line but the back was very easy to slip out in high speed cornering.

Definitely not normal but I suspect it will be fairly easy to sort via bushes / tyres / alignment. Bit of a silly one but check all the wheel bolts are tight!

The passenger seat speed limiter prevented any more speed.

Don’t skimp on brakes or tyres - especially important on a car likely to be driving briskly!

After a 40 min drive today to have the front tyres changed the garage mixed up the ordered 255 30 19 and not 225 35 19. 😔 I now have to wait until Monday for fitting.

I was a little pissed and went up the road to tyrepro which was daylight robbery £360 for 2 front Goodyear non rft. Order online nearly £100 cheaper. No thanks.

I have had the same kind of experience in mine - I can't remember whether I had Goodyear non-RFT or Dunlop non-RFT on the rear but definitely the Bridgstone RFT on the front and it was very unnerving when driving at speed.

I now have matching Dunlop SP Sport Maxx (non RFT) front and back, and the car feels infinitely better. Hopefully it's that and your problems go away tomorrow

Tyres change on the front to match the back and problem gone.

perhaps I was just lucky with my winter tyres, which are different front and rear - had no issues at all, very smooth ride (summer tyres are the same)

john-e89 wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:30 pm Are you sure it’s just that you’re not used to a 35is..? They’re fairly powerful cars with......ermmm.....well a jelly chassis. The one area I really notice is there’s too much power for the chassis to cope with when you’re booting it, it’s quite unnerving at times.
That's certainly not normal. My car has another 80bhp over the 35is and feels solid under acceleration.
