LCD mechanism fault

Post by ZedConvert » Mon Jan 28, 2019 1:02 pm

Hi all,

I have a 2014 model; just came back from a week’s hols, and this morning the LCD panel came up OK, but is refusing to go back down, the screen remained black/ inactive for a prolonged period too at one point this AM.

I purchased the car from BMW last April, so it’s still got warranty remaining. I’m going to research further later, but do you think this is included in the warranty? I wanted to do some research before I call them!

Thanks I’m advance.

Darren

If you have warranty then I'd be calling them and at least find out one way or the other.

So just drove back from the gym, and so far it's playing ball again;

Could it be that the battery had been sitting unused for over a week, and so it needed the alternator to juice it up?

I'll continue to monitor it.

This has happened to my Z4 over the past few days - because of the cold weather.

Once I have the heating on for 5 minutes the LCD will open / close normally.

Now that is warmer in London it's working without a fault.

I had an issue with mine where the screen would not always return when switched off, it gradually did it more often, took it to Bmw, and they replaced it with no quibble, just keep an eye on it, before you warranty runs out
