Doors lock within a few seconds of unlock

Post by Carrotbay » Sun Jan 06, 2019 10:29 am

Hi

I've got a new problem with my 2011 Z4. When I unlock the doors I have to be a bit quick to open one before the car locks itself again. It happens in a few seconds.

This has started happening since I lubricated door hinges and locks .. could the application of some white grease on the lock on the doors or boot started this issue?

Thanks

Phil.

You haven’t got the ‘lock if no door is opened’ option selected?

Hi .. no, that’s disabled. Strangely it’s not playing up this morning. It’s a bit warmer so that might be a factor. Also the grease could have dried a bit.

I’ll keep an eye on it.

Problem solved (well sort of) .. it’s a dodgy key. As soon as I go anywhere near the car with the key it starts locking itself.

Put that key in the cupboard and using the spare and all is good

Grease doesn’t really dry out a bit. That’s kind of one of its major selling points

There's coding function in Carly to time the delay on how long doors lock after they've been unlocked... maybe its a coding issue? I accidentally set this too short and was having similar issues until I recoded it.
