Are these a common failure point? Someones had a go at fixing them before in my car and made a right mess of it.

DIY'd a fix tonight with some CSK screws. Seems pretty solid now

Roof partition bracket failure

Hi, yes these have failed before-they seem a little fragile & wont stand any slamming or being forced over bulky items in the boot.
It’s a shame bmw don’t sell them separate to the luggage divider :(

Yep plenty of people have had to fix these.

I found the best fix was with 25mm M4 countersunk bolts and nuts.

I did have my suspicions that there would be a common failure point.

Oh well, hopefully that'll sort it for a while. I'll just be gentle with the partition :)

One of mine went the other day. Fixed as per the pics above. Also assembled it off the car car first and ran a glue gun around the nuts to embed them in the plastic. Makes it much easier when you then take the bolts out again to assemble it in the car......

Yep I followed this route last year, good as new now and a lot cheaper than buying the whole shelf!

Would anyone know if this is covered under extended bmw warranty or are they going to say this is trim and not covered? Mine just broke today.

They ought to, seeing as this is another bad design that puts load on a weak plastic structure.

I have used some gorilla glue for now. Seems pretty strong so will see how long it lasts.

I guess a lot of people just sort it themselves rather than even mentioning it to BMW. No doubt they take at peek at the forums from time to time though so must know by now it's a poor design.
