Brakes very hot
I noticed at the weekend that all the 4 brakes on my 35i were very hot after a gentle 4 mile drive, over 100 degrees centigrade .
Is this normal as I haven't noticed this before (or maybe not checked before)? No warning lights or fault codes.

You say gentle, are there many downhill sections or junctions on your route?
I don’t think it would take much use to get the brakes that warm

I would have braked gently about 20 times from 30-40mph each time.

I was in the middle of washing the zed when I had to go out to get something for the wife and when I came back washed the wheels, with the water being sprayed on the discs turning to clouds of steam

If its a manual, have you tried just cruising in neutral to see if the brakes are binding? if not it could be just its so bloody hot at the moment, I had a dust covering on my car, so thought I would rinse it off, there was steam coming off my car and no I had not driven it.

Indeed, it does. Indeed, it does. That is not a measurement, however, of the temperature of your discs.

If we’re going to be pedantic, the op didn’t say they were 100 degrees...he said they were over 100 degrees.
Regardless, the question he is asking is, should the brakes get hot enough to turn water to steam?

OP, TomK's post is the best answer in this thread.
Discs & the surfaces of pads can become very hot - a long way above 100C - and, yes, they'll turn water to steam.
