Luggage cover bracket
The plastic luggage cover bracket has broken on my 09 e89. It’s one of the 2 pieces that attach the cover to the metal hinge bracket. It’s basically a sandwich and the 2 pieces have come apart. Is this replaceable? Or will I have to bodge something up by drilling through and use a couple of nuts, bolts & washers?

Just done a bit of research. Looks like it can be replaced under warranty (I’ll see if my warranty will cover it) otherwise it is drill & bolts as I thought.

Hope it does as this is another badly designed part.
If you get a new one, always pull the cover out gently and slot into place.
If it is yanked out it puts too much load on the black plastic and it cracks.
Just not enough material designed into it,
Failing a replacement just drill out, i used carriage bolts for a neater look.

Not related to your post, but what is that net thing in the ‘load through’ space?
Mine hasnt got the load through option either, and I was thinking about something similar.
Did you make it, or where can it be purchased from?
Cheers!

Edit, that looks narrow & mine seems to be the width of the boot divider so maybe there’s 2 different types.

I fitted the net, just cheap cargo net for motor bike threaded through some holes.
But have now replaced all with the through hole and storage from breakers.

I spotted the net as well and wondered. I've "stuck" the first aid kit in the recess with its velcro!

I've just realised that one half of this bracket pair is missing on the left side of the luggage cover. I can't seem to find a part number anywhere for just that component ... would I need to replace the whole unit?Lazza wrote: ↑Sat May 26, 2018 11:03 am The plastic luggage cover bracket has broken on my 09 e89. Yes, you'd need to buy the whole unit if you go back to BMW, which I guess would be expensive.

Hopefully you can find a Z4 being broken for parts?
there are some on ebay, but they're not cheap either (some of those have been fixed too!)

Thanks, I thought as much! I’ve not seen any Z4sat breakers near here (Southampton) I’ll keep my eyes peeled.clarker63 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 08, 2018 2:36 pm Yes, you'd need to buy the whole unit if you go back to BMW, which I guess would be expensive.

The net in yours was a design change in later years to help owners Avoid loading the boot too high with stuff and it causing an issue with the roof mechanism.Smartbear wrote: ↑Sun May 27, 2018 5:35 pmDeepseaskateboard wrote: ↑Sun May 27, 2018 4:16 pm Not related to your post, but what is that net thing in the ‘load through’ space?
