Cannot find bonnet switch
I have read a number of posts on here about replacing the bonnet sensor. I have laid my z4 up over the winter and the warning light is on all the time even though the bonnet is clearly safely down.
Despite reading the posts I cannot find the switch - it is not near the where the cross struts join or under the windscreen wiper
Can anyone send me a picture of where it definitely is please?

Cannot find bonnet switch
If it's a E85 not an E89 I can help - although I've never had anything to do with the bonnet switch. Here
I thought this was it where the cross braces meet. If yours isn't here check that the mount hasn't broken and the switch fallen behind the engine.
If I'm wrong someone will be along to put me right soon enough

Thanks for your reply
It is an E89
S drive 2.3i
I am now puzzled - there are no signs of anything having been on the cross members and no tell tale cable dangling down

In that case I'm no good to you Ignore the photos of the switch position on my car and wait for an E89 owner to come along.Strollerbird wrote: ↑Sun Mar 11, 2018 9:27 am Thanks for your reply

Raise the bonnet & close it firmly with a hand either side in line with the headlights, it’s very easy to leave it slightly ajar and it’s not always obviousStrollerbird wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 3:18 pm I have read a number of posts on here about replacing the bonnet sensor. Cannot find bonnet switch
It would make a lot more sense to have the switch on a front closing bonnet at the front. I believe the bonnet has two locks either side of centre so you must make sure both are pressed down and 'clicked'. As the previous poster said, press gently both sides of centre to ensure a good 'lock'.
I made this mistake as a new owner also.

Cannot find bonnet switch
Hope you have some luck with the advice. I got caught with this towards the end of last year, but a push on the bonnet above the catch locations fixed it...... that time
But the same problem has come back. It's been going on for a month now, and tonight i tried lifting the bonnet from each wheelarch whilst 'locked' The bonnet on the drivers side will lift a little, whereas the n/s does not at all. I think that rhs lock is no longer engaging when pushing the bonnet shut.
What started out as a suspected electrical gremlin (battery needs to be replaced), looks to be a more mechanical.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Not sure if it's just a lubrication issue, or whether there's a common fault here?
